Hernando County Clerk of Circuit Court & Comptroller

Statement Of Accessibility

Hernando County Clerk of Courts and Comptroller recognizes the importance of and continues its commitment to making it’s digital and web services accessible and available to the largest possible audience. To provide and enhance this commitment, Hernando County Clerk of Courts has contracted an independent, third-party firm, SiteImprove Intelligence Platform, to help identify issues on our website.

Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits all state and local governmental agencies from discriminating against persons with disabilities and from excluding participation in or denying benefits of programs, services, or activities to persons with disabilities. To ensure that people with disabilities can fully participate in and benefit from the public services offered by the Clerk, website accessibility standards have been incorporated into the design and maintenance of our website to ensure accessibility for all people regardless of ability or method of access. We strive to conform at a minimum with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. § 701 et seq.) and Section 255 of the Communications Act (47 U.S.C. § 255).

What are we doing?

Hernando County Clerk of Courts has leveraged the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 from the World Wide Consortium (W3C). These guidelines are intended to be a globally-recognized, technology-neutral standard for web content and explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and user-friendly for everyone.

As recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium, these best practices consist of three levels of accessibility measurement. These are A, AA, and AAA. Hernando County Clerk of Courts has elected to conform to Level AA of these guidelines, as feasible to the greatest extent.

Should we become aware of content that may not conform to the current WCAG or similar standards, we will work to update the content with reasonable swiftness to an acceptable level, provide an alternative to the content, or remove the content from the website until such time as compliance is obtained.

How are we doing this?

We monitor and maintain the content of our website considering these standards to maintain our accessibility goals. Our website is periodically scanned by the SiteImprove platform to identify flaws and areas of improvement that allow our team to constantly enhance the accessibility of the content. In response to the ongoing evolution of accessibility tools, techniques, needs, and requirements, we will also update this statement as necessary. Upon request, all information contained on our website can be made available in an alternative format, or arrangements can be made by our staff to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities.
