Juvenile Dependency

General Information

The Dependency Division of the Court Services Department is located within the Clerk of Courts office on the 2nd floor of the Hernando County Courthouse Judicial Center, 20 North Main Street in Brooksville. Office hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Dependency records are maintained as confidential under Florida Law:

No information may be released over the telephone. If you are the parent, guardian or attorney of record, you MUST present a picture I.D. to obtain information or view a juvenile case file.

The dependency section of the Clerk's Office handles cases regarding children who are abused, abandoned, neglected, at risk or children in need of services. Dependency clerks assign case numbers and court dates, prepare court dockets and attend hearings, issue summons and pick-up orders, and maintain and dispose of case files according to Florida Statutes.
